The Purple Frog (Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis)

These uniquely purple frogs live in the Western Ghats of Southern India. Its populations are threatened by deforestation for cardamom and ginger plantations.

These frogs also look as strange as they sound. They always seem like they are bloated, or look like they have had a little too much to eat. They have a very small head in comparison to their body, and have a white snout that sticks out from their face and have smooth deep purple skin.

Estas ranas púrpura viven en los "Ghats" occidentales del sur de la India. Sus poblaciones se encuentran amenazadas por la deforestación para plantaciones de cardamomo y jengibre.

Estas ranas también se ven tan extraño como suenan. Siempre parecen como si estuvieran hinchados, o que parezca que han comido demasiado. Tienen una cabeza muy pequeña en comparación con su cuerpo, y tienen un hocico blanco que sobresale de la cara y tienen la piel de color morado oscuro suave.
