Nomia iridescens

This cool bee, scientifically named Nomia iridescens, belongs to the Halictidae Family, a cosmopolitan group commonly referred to as halictid bees and sweat bees.

Nomia iridescens is a conspicuously banded bee with amazing neon-green stripes, which occurs in southeast Asia (India, Borneo, Peninsular malaysia, Philippines).

Sweat bees, play a vital role in the pollination ecology of a region. By having  a wide range of adaptational capabilities, these inhabit all kind of ecological niches both in tropical and temperate regions. In number and kind these anthophilic insects (attracted to flowers) surpass all other bees and thus are mainly responsible for conserving the vegetation germplasm by pollinating a bewildering variety of wild and cultivated entomophilic flora.

Esta abeja científicamente llamada Nomia iridescens, pertenece a la familia Halictidae, un grupo cosmopolita conocido comúnmente como abejas Halictides y abejas del sudor. 

Nomia iridescens  es una abeja con bandas verde neón en el abdomen, que se produce en el sudeste asiático (India, Borneo, Malasia peninsular, Filipinas). 

Estas abejas, juegan un papel vital en la ecología de la polinización de la región. Al contar con una amplia gama de capacidades adaptativas, éstas habitan todo tipo de nichos ecológicos, tanto en las regiones tropicales y templadas. En número y tipo de estos insectos anthophilicos (atraídos por las flores) superando al resto de las abejas y por lo tanto son los principales responsables de la conservación del germoplasma vegetal polinizando una desconcertante variedad de flora silvestre.
